Well, after coming off of 'Teach Yourself Korean', I found this book to be refreshing. It teaches at a slower pace, and better emphasizes the hangul -- I don't like using english letters for a language that doesn't use them. I found the pronunciation key to be helpful, so long as you ignored that international gobbledy-gook they use in the first two or three chapters.
Other than that, it presents the information in a very teachable way, and the cd is helpful in practicing your pronunciation. Especially if you get the corresponding workbook....just make sure you have the right edition of the workbook, or else it won't match this. However, it's not a requirement to learn from this book.
The downside, however, is that it really is a textbook. It presents the material in a teaching manner. While this doesn't bother me at all, being a visual learner, but it could be off-putting to the people who don't want to feel like they're back in school. Though the plus side of that is that this could be a really good textbook for an actual class. Really depends on your perspective, but you can learn something from this no matter how you see things.
