Hi all,Noticed this problem this morning when I tried to open a word document. Firstly though, I'll give you my specs:
OS: XP home
AV software: Norton Internet Security 2006 (download)
Ok, well when I opened a word document, Windows Installer opened instead, stating 'preparing to install' then 'please wait while windows installer configures Norton Antivirus 2006'. Then a Microsoft Office Word (MOW) error message popped up ontop of Windows Installer stating 'The command cannot be performed because a dialog box is open. Click OK then close open dialog boxes to continue'. I click OK and the MOW error message disappears, but a second error message (this time from Norton Antivirus 2006) pops up and says 'NAV 2006 does not support the repair feature. Please uninstall and reinstall'. To get rid of this message, I need to click OK 3 times...then my word document finally opens.
I thought a restart might solve the problem - so I tried that, and got the exact same message at start up (except now I only need to click the NAV 2006 error message once to get rid of it, not 3 times). I have only had this problem at start up and when opening word documents.
Finally, I downloaded NIS 2006 about a month or so ago, and since then it has been working fine.
Norton Security For Windows 10
Here is what I have tried in order to fix this problem:
1) - Uninstall/re-installed NIS 2006 (using Norton removal tool)
Norton Internet Security Free Trial
2) - Repaired office 20034) - Uninstalled/re-installed office 2003
5) - Ran windows update
6) - Ran Norton LiveUpdate
Still not fixed - problem still occuring as mentioned above

Before updating to windows 10
Its simple. Just Go to Norton update center and upgrade your Norton Software to the latest version http://updatecenter.norton.com/ And then start the windows 10 upgrade process.
After Upgrading to windows 10
We found that many users who upgraded to Win 10 are complaining that Norton has disappeared from the computer. Use the below steps to fix this issue.
- Download the fixit file from the above link and save it on your computer on your desired location.
- Run this file by right clicking on the file and choose run as administrator option.
- A window will open up click on the Next it will prompt you to install the updated version. If nothing will happen after clicking on the continue button then just go to the https://norton.com/setup and login with your Norton account info. It will upgrade the Norton product. If you get the Norton from Internet Service Providers (ISP) then just visit this link to get more information upgrading norton from Service Providers.
